Assembly Guide 1

The Ford GT in depth

This superbly detailed die-cast metal and injection-moulded plastic model is a 1:8 scale replica of the iconic two-times winner of Le Mans, the Wyer Racing GT, chassis number 1075, which also came first in four other world-class long-distance events.

The car appears in the form that it was driven to an epic victory at Le Mans by Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver the second time in 1969.

Build your own Ford GT in 1:8 Scale

The GT was developed to break Ferrari’s dominance on the world’s most prestigious long-distance sports car races.

The first race at the Nürburgring 1000km in May 1964 brought disappointing results, which were repeated three weeks later at Le Mans and for the rest of the season. But in 1965, the team was taken over by racing legend Carroll Shelby, creator of the Cobra, and the GT scored its first win. After further development, the race programme came good in 1966, when the 7.0 litre Mk II cars came 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at Daytona, Sebring and, then, Le Mans.
