San Felipe | Large Scale Model Ship
San Felipe | Large Scale Model Ship
The San Felipe is typical of the largest warships built around the end of the 17th century to protect Spain's colonial interests in the Americas, and to safeguard the long and hazardous passage back to Spanish ports. Heavily armed and ornately finished, three-decker ships of the line such as this were symbols of the might of Spain and its ruling dynasty.

Key Features of the San Felipe
The hull uses a double-skinned plank-on-frame construction with a base of frames, pre-cut gun ports and planks, which are then covered by a dark hardwood outer layer before adding the more complex and detailed parts.
The elaborate stern and deck details make the San Felipe a favourite ship for modellers.
The kit features cast metal parts, including gun port frames, windows, doors and ornamental pieces, as well as brass fittings that include turned pillars and photo-etched beakhead rails.
Stitched sail set, rigging threads.
