Toyota facsmile brochure
This is a reproduction of the original, and very detailed, 1967 Japanese brochure for the Toyota 2000GT. As well as the usual exterior and interior shots of the car, you will find a series of fascinating illustrations of the key sub-assemblies. These include detailed drawings of engine, transmission, brake and suspension components, plus a superb cutaway illustration of the whole car. And at the end, there are two pages setting out the technical specifications of the 2000GT, including car and engine performance data, and four line drawings showing the main internal and external dimensions.
Key Features of the Toyota 2000GT
The elegant exterior of the Toyota 2000GT features a long nose and fastback tail, designed to minimise air resistance. Its memorable shape is meticulously recreated by your model's integrated die-cast body-shell, finished in Toyota's Pegasus White paint scheme. You can enjoy the mechanical details of your model 2000GT, such as the realistic in-line 6-cylinder engine, thanks to the openable hood, tailgate, and right and left doors, plus the service hatches that house the battery and air filter.
The retractable headlights can be opened and closed
The detailed front end of your model features the large driving lights at either side of the front grille – complete with its ‘T’ (for Toyota) motif – plus the ridged centre line that, on the real car, was formed by skilled panel beaters.
The service hatch doors on each side open and close, just like those of the real car. The right hatch houses the battery, the left the air filter and screenwash reservoir.
To prevent reflected sunlight from dazzling the driver, the inner halves of the 2000GT’s streamlined wing mirror housings had a matt finish, which is reproduced on your model.
Your model’s twin exhaust tailpipes are made of polished metal, to reproduce the chromed pipes of the real 2000GT.
Your model's hub nuts carry the same wording as those of the real car.
The die-cast wheels of your model replicate the look of the 2000GT’s magnesium units, and the front wheels are steerable.
The badges on the sides carry a red flag, symbolising the car's sportiness.
Your model's 2000GT's chassis, suspension, transmission and exhaust systems are superbly detailed.
Your model reproduces the stylish cabin of the Toyota 2000GT, replicating the beautiful rosewood veneer dashboard, the elegant, functional bucket seats, and the details of the doors and luggage space.
The 2000GT's stylish bucket seats, which were covered in black, leather-like vinyl, are reproduced on your model.
The floor of the luggage compartment at the rear of your model can be removed, as in the full-size car, to reveal the fuel tank, spare wheel and toolkit that are neatly stowed underneath it. The luggage space is reached by opening the tailgate. The spare wheel is stored under the floor, next to the fuel tank. The toolkit is stowed underneath the spare wheel.
Opening storage compartment
The lid of the small storage compartment on top of the transmission tunnel can be opened and closed, and has a rosewood finish.
The 2-litre, 6-cylinder, double-overhead-camshaft engine of the 2000GT is accurately recreated on your model. The valve covers and the cylinder block, along with the inlet and exhaust manifolds and other principal components, are reproduced in detail using die-cast and ABS components. The completed engine of your model is seen here in place on the X-frame backbone chassis. The rugged construction of the original car is reproduced, and the detailed components include the distributor and plug leads and the three twin-barrel Mikuni-Solex carburettors.
Inside the car
The cabin of your model 2000GT includes an accurate reproduction of the car’s luxurious, Yamaha-built dashboard, with its rosewood veneer and comprehensive set of instruments, plus the floor-mounted gear lever and the wood-rimmed steering wheel. As in the real car, the minor instruments on the dashboard are set at an angle for easy viewing. The driver’s footwell details include the pedals, the footrest and a ventilation duct.
Both doors of your model open and close, and are fitted with realistic trim, armrests, ashtrays, door handles and window winders.

2017-01-26 12:15:05This was a lovely kit to build with very nice quality components and excellent detail inside and out. There is even a tyre change tool kit which is not even visible on the finished build :-) Could only have been improved if it was in the larger 1/8 scale to match the other Deagostini kits.
2016-06-26 17:17:53I built this car with ease thanks to great instructions. Its a wonderful car to have in the bookcase. It has alot of things that open. The only thing is the chrome list around the front window is so sharp i cut an inch in my thumb doing what the instructions said.It is highly recomended from me. I got it built in 4 days-a wonderful time. Jan K
