When in the 1950s the car fleet of the Paris police department needed renewing, the choice immediately fell on a manoeuvrable small car. The Renault 4CV was allocated to the ‘flying squad’ after being fitted with special body with deep cut-out door openings and painted entirely in black and white. This colour scheme soon earned it the nickname pie, meaning ‘magpie’. The model offered here is based on the 1955 design.

At the end of the 1940s British police forces were equipped with telephones and their duty was to carry out as many patrols as possible in their district to prevent crime and raise awareness of their presence. The mobility required for a police car made the Morris Minor the ideal candidate. The engine of 50 bhp was considered sufficient for the purpose. The cuddly design was well known to the public and therefore inspired confidence. The model offered here is based on that of 1957.

The VW Beetle was extremely sturdy and therefore ideal as police vehicle. The striking green and white police ‘Beetle’ could be trusted as a dependable ‘friend and helper’ on the scene of the crime or other event. In this role the VW 1200 needed particular features to meet the specific requirements of the police.
